With thoughts of Private Peter Darrington (28yrs) of Roxton who served with the 7th Bedfords. He was killed in action on 1st July 1916, first day of Battles of the Somme. Peter was buried by the Padre where he fell and his grave marked by a wooden cross. With the ebb and flow of battle the grave was lost and so Private Darrington is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
