With thoughts of Private Peter Darrington (28yrs) of Roxton who served with the 7^th Bedfords. He was killed in action on 1st July 1916, first day of Battles of the Somme. Peter was buried by the Padre where he fell and his grave marked by a wooden cross. With the ebb and flow of battle the grave was lost and so Private Darrington is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
